Except as provided in Article 9.23.13.1., this Article applies in locations where
(a)
the seismic spectral acceleration, Sa (0.2), is greater than 0.70 but not more than 1.8 and
(i)
the lowest exterior frame wall supports not more than 1 floor in buildings of heavy construction, or (See Note A-9.23.13.2.(1)(a)(i))
(ii)
the lowest exterior frame wall supports not more than 2 floors in other types of construction, and
(b)
the 1-in-50 hourly wind pressure is less than 1.20 kPa.
(2)
Bracing to resist lateral loads shall be designed and constructed in accordance with
(a)
Articles 9.23.13.4. to 9.23.13.7.,
(b)
Part 4, or
(c)
good engineering practice such as that provided in CWC 2014, “Engineering Guide for Wood Frame Construction.”
