Hyperlinked Ontario Building Code is a creation of Dat Pham, an architect, to provide a convenient Building Code references for AEC folks in Ontario, Canada.
The main contents of this website are largely based on the latest Ontario Building Code Compendium, and reproduced with permission from Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing. Some additional contents, which are gathered from an architect’s day-to-day practices and experiences, are also included for educational purposes.
This website is a live document and continues to be updated. Some missing parts (e.g. MMAH Supplementary Standards) will be added when ready.
Features
- Popup previews. Code items often cross reference each other. You as a regular reader usually have to hold on to information in memory, while shuffling pages trying to find the correct referenced items. You might have forgotten half of the original contents by the time the items are found. This feature, instead, instantly brings the referenced contents to you, cutting through all the frictions in reading and navigating the physical or PDF version of the Code. As a side effects, it reinforces your understanding of certain aspects of the Code more quickly.
- If you prefer reading the source documents for certain reasons, direct links are available on each Article page for extremely quick navigation to the exact PDF pages in the source Ontario Building Code Compendium.
- Full context searching, extremely responsive searching mechanics to show you where the search terms appear in different contexts. By far better than a PDF search function.
- Dark mode. Such a pleasure to the eyes, especially at night.
