This Article applies to controlled-atmosphere storage areas that, during storage periods, contain an atmosphere with an oxygen content less than 19.5% or more than 23% by volume.

During storage periods, controlled-atmosphere storage areas need not comply with Sentence 2.4.2.1.(1).
(3)
Prior to a controlled-atmosphere storage area being accessed after a storage period and while the storage area is accessible between storage periods, the ventilation system of the storage area shall
(a)
supply outdoor air to the storage area at a rate in accordance with Sentence 2.4.2.1.(1), and
(b)
ensure that the atmosphere in the storage area has an oxygen content not less than 19.5% and not more than 23% by volume.

A warning sign shall be provided at each entrance to a controlled-atmosphere storage area in accordance with Sentence 2.14.2.1.(5) of Division B of the NRCC-CONST-56437E 2020, “National Fire Code of Canada.”
